Hi & welcome to the first issue of our newsletter exclusively for the homeowners and residents of the Kingsbridge Subdivision. We hope through this newsletter to keep you informed of happenings in the community, introduce you to your new neighbors, promote community awareness and serve as an information resource. Pam Bernard will be greeting and welcoming the new arrivals in Kingsbridge II and introducing them to you. In Kingsbridge I, Dee Proper will be doing the honors. We welcome your input and invite you to submit information that you wish to share with the community –yard sales, birth announcements, community and church events, etc. Just remember this is not a forum for expressing political, religious or personal views and/or complaints. Please submit all announcements, etc. in written form and provide your name, address and telephone number.
NEIGHBORS TAKING CARE OF NEIGHBORS
We have heard from various residents that it would be helpful and appreciated it everyone would leave their front porch lights on at night. Certainly, extra lighting makes residents feel more secure.
Let’s all be on the lookout for each other—this is probably one of the best ways to keep our neighborhood safe. Notice your neighbor’s habits and if anything appears suspicious or out of the ordinary, be a good neighbor and check it out. Report suspicious activity or people to the sheriff’s office immediately.
Does the idea of bartering with your neighbors appeal to you? If so, we’d like to hear from you. Tell us what you want to barter to do or provide and what service or item you desire in return. Perhaps you are a computer whiz and can offer that service in return for yard work or woodworking. Maybe you enjoying cooking and/or baking and would like to cook for someone who would wash your car, clean your house or organize your closets. The possibilities are endless and it is a great way to get things done by “experts” without having to shell out money!! If there is interest, we can include a bartering bulletin board in the Newsletter.

Some are making blankets but most are collecting new and “gently used” blankets for distribution to those in need in the greater Swansboro area. If you would like to donate, please drop off at the church or call Dee Proper 910 326-1367. If you know someone who could use a blanket call Francine at 910 577-3343 or email her at girlscouts930@yahoo.com. All calls and emails will be held in confidence.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
This is a great side dish for your Thanksgiving dinner—pretty, easy to make and transport and can be made the day before. Kids and adults love it.
Layered Fruit Salad
In a glass bowl layer any combination or all of the following:
Seedless red grapes, strawberries, fresh peaches, blueberries, bananas, diced apples, cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon or any fresh fruit available. Do not use canned fruit or oranges. After layering fruit, sprinkle on top of fruit ¼ cup light brown sugar. Do not stir. Next, “ice” top with sour cream. Do not stir. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Just prior to serving, stir, stir, stir.
Happy Thanksgiving! Call, email, write or come see if you have questions, need information or have comments or information to share
