ONSLOW COUNTYAirport marks Delta’s return

Albert J. Ellis Airport will commemorate Delta Airlines’ return to Onslow County with a special celebration Monday.

In August, the nation’s third-largest airline announced its return to Onslow after a seven-year absence. Delta plans to offer two daily nonstop flights — running in and out of Albert J. Ellis Airport to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport — beginning Monday.

Departures are 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Arrival times for flights to Ellis are 12:30 and 9 p.m.

“The first Delta flight is actually a flight arriving at Albert J. Ellis at 9 p.m. Sunday,” said airport director Jerry Vickers. “But, the first leaving out is a 7 a.m. (flight) Monday morning. We’re holding our celebration festivities Monday with the flight arriving at 12:30 p.m. It’s a more convenient time.”"
