The Onslow County Parks and Recreation department sponsors activities, programs, special events and instructional classes for adults, teens and children year round at locations throughout the county.
With the arrival of Spring, it is a great time to get outdoors with your family and enjoy our wonderful eastern North Carolina weather. There are so many things to do ---where to start is the question and I have answers for you.
Bicycling - Did you know Onslow County has bicycle routes? If you enjoy biking, you will want to check out the bike routes.
- Jacksonville- City to the Sea Bicycle Route - This is a safer route than the main road and one which is used by many area bikers for recreation and training.
- Richlands - Richlands' Loop Bicycle Route - A scenic route which goes through rural areas and is a peaceful, beautiful ride for the leisure rider as well as the serious bicyclist.
Parks- There are 7 public parks in Onslow County - Most are open from 10am to 7pm in the Spring and until 8pm during the summer months. They are well maintained and offer a large variety of activities and facilities.

Each park is different, some large with a large variety of facilities while others are small and may offer only a few of the facilities listed.

Public Beach Access - The County provides 4 public beach accesses for the citizens of the county to use and enjoy - Features vary from access to access but some of the features provided for your use and enjoyment are:

- Surf fishing
- Rest rooms
- Showers
- Concessions
- Elevated observation deck
Kayak/Canoe Paddling Trail - The difficulty level is rated 2, 3 and highlights of the trip include
- Salt marshes
- Wildlife
- Bird watching
- Alligators
- Limestone formation
- Beaver dams
- And more
