Christmas Baking
What are your thoughts on cooking/baking for the holidays? Do you bake cookies, breads, cakes for gifts? Do people enjoy getting homemade goodies as gifts? Do they eat them, regift them or toss them in the garbage? I'd really like to know since I'm one of those people who starts thinking about Christmas cooking the day after Thanksgiving. I bake cookies, cakes & breads and cheese straws and lovingly package them for friends, co-workers and family. This has been a tradition in my family for generations. My kitchen becomes Santa's food workshop for weeks on end. I've always believed people enjoyed receiving my "homebaked gifts". Now, I'm reading and hearing that many people do not appreciate food gifts. I shudder to think that is possible. If my gifts are unwanted, where does that leave my holiday baking compulsion? I certainly cannot keep all that calorie laden food in my house! Please help me with this----to bake or not to bake for others, that's the question.
