Waterfront Home in Hubert, NC---And A Dock?

So you bought a beautiful, new waterfront home in Hubert N C on Queens Creek, the Waterfront home Hubert NC furniture has been moved in, you've unpacked and the family is pretty much settled into a new life and routine in your lovely new Hubert N C home.

You've visited the schools that the kids will be attending in Swansboro which are only about a 10 minute drive from the neighbhorhood and all are pleased with that as it means everyone gets to sleep a little later on school days. And there's the Day Care center for the little ones, Mom is pleased and comfortable with it.

Swansboro NC The restaurants and shops on the waterfront in Swansboro are all and more than you anticipated. The boutiques and gift shops will provide hours of entertainment and shopping pleasure especially for Mom and the girls. You can't wait until your "inland friends" visit so you can take them to one of the local restaurants for some of the fabulous local crab, shrimp, clams and fish.

Dad's commute to Camp LeJeune Marine Base is short and convenient, that makes him happy. The airport and interstate highway is a short drive away which makes out of town trips easy.

So what's missing? Oh, I bet I can guess.........a boat and boat dock. Sorry, I can't help
boating Hubert NC you with the boat but I do have some very important information about the boat dock. Hold on don't order the lumber and nails yet. Before you start construction, you must have a permit. Actually, you probably will need two permits.

So where do you begin and what do you need to do? Your first stop should be the Onslow County Building and Planning Department. It is located at 118 Old Bridge St. in Jacksonville. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and will answer your questions and assist you in making the necessary applications. A CAMA (Coastal Area Management Act) permit is required for most any type of activity that occurs over and/or in any body of water in the 20 North Carolina counties regulated by CAMA. For more information check out CAMA's webesite and Will My Project Require a Permit?

Now where is the phone book? Let's see "boat dealers" ....yeah, it's time to go BOAT SHOPPING!

What To Look for When Buying a Home In Onslow County, N C

Like buying a used car, there are risks in buying a home.. Unfortunately, there are no test drives available. Most people do hire a professional home inspector and that is wise but there are things which the Onslow County real estate buyer should look for himself.
The buyer should try to put aside all personal preferences and look at the home with a critical eye. Some things to look for are
  • uneven floors,
  • sticking/dragging doors
  • signs of leaks
  • lack of maintenance
  • Have ceilings been recently repaired? That could indicate a leak
  • Check out the electrical outlets in older homes--updated and new homes have 3 prong holes while older ones have two holes and may not support the Onslow County real estate buyers' newer appliances, etc.
  • How about the plumbing? Turn on several faucets at once--do you loose a lot of water pressure? How do the sink, showers and tubs drain?
  • Another important thing to look for is where the house is located. Drainage problems are expensive to solve. If it is located at the bottom of a hill, has drainage been installed?
  • Try to analyze if anything about the house seems out of character, if so this could indicate the seller has just made repairs and coverups.
Be a smart real estate buyer -- do your homework, seek out a professional Realtor and listen to your instincts.

We are here to assist you with any real estate in Onslow County, N C and would love to work for you.
